Summer 2017 i was heading to tuscany for the wedding of a cousin, and decided to explore, for the first time, one of the most beautiful regions of the world.
I heard Italy’s hotel industry is old and for what you get, comfort and service wise, it is expensive. And it’s mostly true.
Luckily, i found one gem, lost in the rolling green hills of Tuscany, in a tiny commune called Peccioli, in the Province of Pisa: a unique countryside residence, a luxurious hotel named Pratello Country Resort.
It is a small 18th-century hamlet, built in 1650, wow ! located in the centre of a 320-hectare wildlife park with woodlands, olive groves and unique views.
with only 10 rooms available, you immediately feel at home. The rooms are stunning, high ceilings, decorated with a very stylish tuscan taste, elegant and antique furnitures…you know, like in the movies.
The nature is a big part of the scenery at Pratello. Flowers, trees, little gardens, nothing is left by chance. A tennis court is available as well but the most amazing attraction of the park is the swimming pool. And OMG I love swimming pools. Always loved them.
The swimming pool at Pratello is one of the best I have experienced so far. Perfectly clean, right temperature and big enough to swim. Not always the case. Yeah, i love to swim, i really do. You know Laure Manaudou? yeah almost me 😉
If you’re more the nap type, don’t worry, the swimming pool spot is the perfect spot for you, to enjoy farniente, as well.
Another great value at Pratello: the food. You know how much i love food, especially italian food! Well, at Pratello, you can either eat a delicious simple pasta plate by the pool, available for lunch only, or have diner on the beautiful terrace. What a luxury to be eating outside with a stunning panoramic view on the Peccioli hills. The chef is pretty good, and their wines are delicious. Breakfast-wise, you can’t go wrong: eggs, home-made cakes, pasticceria, fresh fruits, cheese, ham. Everything is top quality. Simply delicious!
I can’t think of anything i disliked at Pratello. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful! It’s a family business and you can feel it the minute you arrive. I spent 2 marvelous nights, on the hillside of Tuscany, away from big city confusion and i absolutely didn’t want to go away.
I really recommend Pratello, if you ever travel to Tuscany. ❤
